Successful Treatment of Congenital Defect With Double Switch Cardiac Surgery

Kartik was born with Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries (CCTGA), a rare heart defect in which the heart’s lower half is reversed. He also suffered from leakage of the tricuspid valve, causing the blood to flow backwards.

Due to low pressure in the left ventricle, he underwent a band placement around his pulmonary artery. After two years, Kartik was finally deemed fit for the complex double switch surgery to reroute the blood flow. This entire procedure was performed under the expert supervision of Dr Rajesh Sharma, Clinical Director - Paediatric Cardiac Surgery and his team. The kid has recovered successfully as he continues taking follow-up sessions.
